Our approach to dieting is simple don't! Self-discipline, carbohydrate restriction or popping handfuls of nutritional supplements have proven to be ineffective methods of weight control in the long run. Most people are unsuccessful when it comes to losing weight because they expect the fast results touted in popular diet books, but instead experience failure, guilt, frustration and disappointment. Healthy and permanent weight loss takes time.

The Breathing Room Eating with Intent food plan is based largely on historical weight loss statistics contained in the National Weight Control Registry, a major research study of individuals who have successfully lost and kept weight off for a number of years. Our personalized plan incorporates many of the sensible strategies proven effective by the individuals participating in the Registry, yet is flexible enough to accommodate personal preferences and any special dietary restrictions.

By following your personalized Eating with Intent food plan and learning to eat mindfully, you gradually reduce your body fat while continuing to eat the foods you really enjoy. You learn to replace unhealthy habits with healthful behavior, manage your love/hate relationship with food, and recognize that French fries are not the enemy (as long as you don't eat super-sized portions of them every day)!

You begin the plan by recording your daily eating habits in your Breathing Room Food Diary. Our registered dietician reviews your diary, and strategizes with your Coach to determine which small adjustments can be made to immediately improve your eating habits. As you progress, your team of personal advisors introduces new ideas and proven techniques that will help you lose weight—and keep it off—permanently.
