  • Using a combination of proven stress reduction techniques, including breath-based meditation, body scans, and mindfulness practice, we help clients learn how to alleviate the negative effects of stress and restore a sense of peace and balance in everyday living
  • Yoga
  • A wonderful complement to strength training and cardiovascular exercise. Yoga promotes increased flexibility and a higher sensitivity to the breath.

Awareness in Action: Strengthen your body, relax your mind

Check the schedule for this courseJoin Breathing Room owner Patty McLucas for Awareness in Action, a unique and fulfilling course where you'll learn how to leverage the "feel-good" rush from exercise into a powerful catalyst for stress reduction.

Your experience will focus on:

  • Strengthening major muscle groups using functional strength training
  • Harnessing the power of the body's natural "relaxation response" to moderate exercise
  • Practicing proven mindfulness based stress-reduction techniques, such as awareness of the breath, in order to restore the balance between a strong body and a strong mind.

Awareness in Action

Strength training builds lean muscle tissue and puts into motion a series of positive physiological changes that improve health, fitness, appearance and stress levels.

Stress reduction helps reduce blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, digestive distress, cardiovascular disease, migraine headaches, and a host of other physical and mental ailments impeding our sense of wellness and wholeness.

The Awareness in Action course exercises the mind, body and spirit in a holistic approach that will strengthen your body and relax your mind.

There are other options from which to respond to ‘life as it is.’ One way is to replenish yourself by entering into the natural serenity of the outdoors, which is a gift right at our fingertips.

Please join Portola Valley resident Patty McLucas as we “Release Stress in Nature.” We will enjoy the natural beauty of Portola Valley while practicing breath-based meditation, body awareness techniques, and exploring the characteristics of thought that pull us out of the present moment. Each class will include the practice of techniques, discussion, and nature awareness activities.
